"I can't believe it's already July" are words that you might have uttered or heard someone say. When summer begins we feel a burst of energy as the days are longer and the weather is warmer. People are more social, more often and pretty soon, the calendar fills up, you blink, and it's fall. What happened? When we get so busy, it can be easy to forget to slow down and enjoy the small moments in between.
Small Moment

Morning finds me on my favorite chair,
cushion slightly damp from last night's downpour,
sun tickling the tops of the junipers and pinions.
Day opens up to welcome me.
In light of the unceasing flow of change,
this feels like some kind of preparation.
Sitting is really just noticing,
helps me have mercy on myself.
How utterly human of me to
grasp and perseverate,
mind going this way and that.
How normal of me to forget
that I'm my oldest friend.
Noticing helps tenderize things.
Sitting consistently transforms what we notice.
The practice of observing and quieting the mind
helps us see that passing feelings and thoughts
don't need to disturb us
unalterably.
And we don't need to keep chasing after them.
Noticing thoughts come, then go.
Tranquil heart.
One moment.

Participants will learn the background of the rites (or poses/postures/exercises), learn the 5 Tibetans and then participate in a condensed Hatha practice that incorporates the 5 Tibetans. In conclusion, participants will reflect on how to actively incorporate the 5T’s into their daily lives for maximum benefit.
