SATYA

Patangali's Yoga Sutras has an eight-fold path known as the 'Ashtanga Yoga System' or '8 Limbs of Yoga' ('ashta' means 'eight' and 'anga' means 'limb'). The first of these limbs are the Yamas, which is how we interact with the world around us. In BKS Iyengar's translation of this first limb, he explains that Yamas are 'unconditioned by time, class and place.' No matter who you are, where you are or when you are, the Yamas provide a guideline of how to interact with the world with our intentions and actions.


One of the Yamas, Satya (truthfulness), is the yogic teaching from the 8 limbs of yoga reminds us to live our truth and honor the truth of others with courage and compassion. Every June, communities around the world celebrate Pride Month - a time to recognize the resilience, contributions and joy of LGBTQ+ communities, while advocating for visibility, inclusion and love. At Brighton Yoga Center, we believe that yoga is a practice of liberation, one that invites each of us to live and love fully and deeply.

ONE DAY YOGA RETREAT

STAYCATION, SPRING 2025


We wrapped up May, with our very first one day yoga retreat, staycation style. We spent the day on Whitmore Lake enjoying each other's company, journaling, delicious homemade meals and of course, lots of yoga. While we would have loved warmer weather, the sun came out and we took advantage of it! We all left with our hearts and cups full, ready to move into the season of summer!
